FAQ'S

What is the lifespan of a Siberian Husky?
They can live 12-15yrs with proper diet and exercise.

How big do they get?
They can be anywhere from 45-70lbs depending on the parents.

Does my husky have to be on a leash?
Yes. Your husky should always be kept on a leash or in a 6ft enclosed area. Huskies will run away and they are escape artists!

When can I take my puppy home?
At 8 weeks old. Each litter has a designated pick up date. No sooner. No exceptions.

Can you reserve my puppy after they are 8 weeks old?
Your deposit will reserve your puppy until the designated pick up date. For everyday after a $20 fee will be incurred. (up to 10 days)

When can I take my puppy to public places?
After he/she has received all their puppy vaccines, 16 - 20  weeks old depending on your vet.

When can I run/ walk my puppy long distance?
You should wait until 1yr old for any long distance exercise. You want to be sure your puppy has good strong bones and structure. Vigorous exercise prematurely can cause growth issues and possible torn ACL's.

What flea and tick should I use?
We recommend using a monthly topical flea and tick preventative. Oral (chewable) preventives have been proven to cause seizures and death in all dog breeds. (our Aussie has suffered seizures from an oral preventative).

What heartworm prevention should I use?
We use heartgaurd. We have never had issues with this preventive. This should be given by your vet at the puppy's first check up.

When should I take my new puppy to the vet?
Within 3 weeks of bringing your new furbaby home. This appointment should include; their next combo vaccine, heartgaurd, and topical flea and tick.

How often do I need to brush and bathe my husky?
Huskies need a good brushing monthly and multiple times a week during the shedding season. Maintenance baths once a month in the summer and only if necessary in the winter. They are naturally clean dogs. Over bathing a husky can cause skin issues. If your husky likes to swim a lot, give him/her a quick bath to keep them free of sand and dirt. Be sure your husky is FULLY dry! Letting wetness sit in the fur can cause yeast infections and other skin conditions. Never ever shave a husky unless medically necessary.

Should I take my husky to a groomer?
If you are considering a groomer make sure they are very familiar with the breed's wooly coat type and the maintenance. A groomer should never shave a husky anywhere!

Are huskies good with other animals?
Yes. They must be introduced to smaller animals before or by 16 weeks old as huskies do have a high prey drive.

Are huskies good with kids?
Yes. They are pack animals and do wonderfully with kids!

Are huskies loud?
They can be. Most of our huskies don't bark and are only talkative around feeding time. It all comes down to training, if you encourage "talking" at a young age they will continue to be loud.

What food should I feed my husky?
We feed Diamond High Energy to our adults over 1yr old and Diamond Puppy to our pups under 1yr old. Diamond has a great natural line of dog food as well. We recommend keeping your husky on puppy food at least until 1yr old.
